1. The second Republic of Korea-United Kingdom meeting of the directors-general for consular affairs took place at the Foreign Ministry, Seoul, on October 24 in the presence of Director-General for Overseas Koreans and Consular Affairs Kim Wan-joong of the ROK Foreign Ministry and director for consular affairs Julia Longbottom of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
° The ROK-UK meeting of the directors-general for consular affairs is held on an annual basis pursuant to the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding on Crisis Cooperation signed at the first bilateral minister-level strategic dialogue in December 2014.
2. At the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to respond to large-scale terrorist attacks in foreign countries; to protect their nationals during international events; to work together at the third Senior-Level Meeting of the Global Consular Forum (GCF) to take place in Songdo from October 25 to 27 and on the GCF’s way forward, sharing with each other their respective relevant experiences.
3. The two sides agreed to hold their third meeting in London at an appropriate time in 2017.
